Charges dropped for client charged with Breach of Peace and Criminal Mischief after I got client into a program

A client in Middletown Superior Court was arrested on Breach of Peace 2nd degree (53a-181) and Criminal Mischief 3rd degree (53a-117) for a motor vehicle incident.  S/he was taken to the hospital and the police never asked him/her for a statement, so of course the twenty-year-old male driver said he was doing nothing wrong and s/he just started following him for no reason!

I applied for Accelerated Rehabilitation (A.R.) for the client, and had to argue for it in front of the judge, given the one-sided nature of the accusations.

A.R. is for clients who have never been in trouble with the law before and the judge determines are not likely to get in trouble again.

The judge agreed to grant my client A.R., and the charges were dropped.

      This happened in 2023.
